STEP 1. Chop the onion coriander. To puree the tomatoes. Cook cowpea( chawli) in a cooker.
STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, turmeric and asafoetida, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, sugar, add ginger garlic paste, half of the chopped onions and saute it well. Now add tomato puree to it and saute it well. Now add cooked cowpea, salt and water according to the requirement and bring it to boil for 5-7 minutes and cook it.
STEP 3. Take a farsan in the dish and put it on top of hot tarri cowpeas misal add seve, onion, coriander and squeeze lemon and serve it with pav.
STEP 4.Tip: Adding sugar with red chillies in the tadka makes the tarri good and the color becomes better.
