STEP 1.Soak dal in water for 4-6hrs and then drain off the excess water.
STEP 2.Remove 2tbsp of soaked dal in a bowl. Keep it aside.
Cooking Directions
STEP 1.Take dal in a jar and pulse it.Transfer it to a bowl and keep it aside.
STEP 2.Take chopped onion,green chilli, fennel seed, garlic, ginger paste,red chilli and red chilli powder in a jar. Pulse it.
STEP 3.Add this mixture with the pulsed dal and add salt to taste. Mix well without adding water.
STEP 4.Add 2tbsp whole dal which was kept aside in the beginning. Add some chopped curry leaves. Mix it well for at least 1 min.
STEP 5.Heat oil in a pan
STEP 6.Take a small portion from the mixture and make a ball. Slightly press the ball with your palm to shape the vada.
STEP 7.Fry the vada in medium flame. When both sides of the vada become golden brown, take it out of the pan.
STEP 8. Repeat step 5 and 6 for the rest of the mixture.
STEP 9.Tasty and healthy chai snack is ready to be served.

STEP 1.Red Chilli Powder is optional.
STEP 2.If you want more crispy parippu vada then make small balls of mixture.
