Ingredients for Parippu Thoran Recipe

  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 No.s Garlic
  • 10 No.s Chopped Shallots
  • 2 tablespoon Crushed chilly
  • 5 tablespoon Grated coconut
  • 2 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds

Directions: Parippu Thoran Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take washed 1 cup of dal in a pressure cooker. Add a pinch of salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder. Cook till the first whistle blows.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Pour 2 tbsp of coconut oil into a pan and heat it. Add ½ tsp of mustard seeds into the pan and allow it to splutter.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Add 2 dry red chillies, chopped shallots, garlic, a few curry leaves and crushed chilly.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Saute till the ingredients are tender.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Then add 1 cup of grated coconut and saute well.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Now transfer the cooked chana dal into the pan and mix well.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Cook for another 3-4 minutes on medium flame.
