Bhetki Paturi Recipe

Recipe By Slurrp

A delicious recipe from Bengal. You may have already heard about its counterpart Ilish Macher Paturi, in which Hilsa fish is coated in mustard paste and wrapped in banana leaves before it is steamed. In Bhetki Paturi, it is the Bhetki fish that is cooked in a somewhat similar way. Bhetki, also known as Asian Sea Bass is a beloved fish among Bengalis for ist white, flaky flesh, it is also much more economical option when compared to Hilsa or Ilish.

The Bengali word 'Paturi' is like a small pocket created with leaves. Bhetki Paturi is also a festive recipe, but fairly simple to put together. All you need to do here is prepare the mustard-gondhoraj lemon paste, and rub your bhetki fish. Then place your bhetki inside banan leaves, make a little parcel with the leaves and steam.
