Throughout history, North India has been a site of many foreign invasions from North Western frontier, the British also moved their capital to Delhi from Calcutta in 1911. There were regions that resisted foreign rule too, like the Rajputs of Rajasthan. All of the movements and cultural exchanges reflected in the many cuisines of North India. Now, you find multiple kinds of curries , breads, desserts across North India, all of which are unique and noteworthy.


North Indian Recipes For Breakfast


Breakfast in North India can be as rich an affair as you want it to be. The classic Punjabi combination of chole bhature and lassi will make sure you are satiated to the core. An equally rich and greasy option would be that of bedmi puri, a special stuffed puri that is paired with aloo. Then there are many different kinds of kachoris, which are puffed, deep-fried pastries, that serve as a memorable start to any day. If you want to explore meaty options, then how can you not have Nihari, the word Nihari itself is derived from Arabic word ‘Nahar’ which means morning. It is a spicy mutton stew that is paired with sheermal. Slightly more casual and easy options would be parathas, aloo, gobhi, paneer etc. Pair it with any pickle and you are good to go.


North Indian Recipes For Lunch


With lunch as well, you can be as experimental as you want. From Punjabi Rajma to Himachali Madra, the legume preparations of North India are truly class apart. Same is the case with lentils, after all, who is untouched by the phenomenon of Dal Makhani. Meat lovers have a gamut of options to choose from as well, the iconic butter chicken, Rogan Josh, Mutton Korma are some all-time favourites. A tonne of rotis and naans go best with all kind of curries and subzis like aloo gobhi, matar paneer and malai kofta, but if you are a ‘rice person’ , you must experiment with a number of pulaos like Allahabadi Tehri


North Indian Recipes For Dinner


North India is very fond of paneer, maybe because many people stull make it at home. Some of the beloved cottage cheese delicacies that could be a nice addition to your dinner table would be shahi paneer, paneer pasandey, kadhai paneer. Mixed veg delicacies like Navratan Korma is also a good and fulfilling North Indian recipe for dinner. Both the Banarasi and well as the Kashmiri Dum Aloo excellently use potatoes and spices to give us something hot and tangy to liven up our plate.
