• 2 Smoked ham hocks, omit for vegan version

• 2 cup Vegetable Stock
• 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
• 2 Bay leaves
• 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
• 2 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
• 1 teaspoon Louisiana hot sauce, or other vinegar based hot sauce
• 1 teaspoon Liquid smoke, may need to increase for vegan version
