STEP 1.Soak rice in water for 3-4 hrs. Then wash and drain properly.
STEP 2.1 take rice in a jar and grind it coarsely. The texture should be like puttu podi. Make sure to grind the rice in batches and water should not be added.
STEP 3.2 use a wide bowl or tray to transfer the powdered rice. Add 1 cup grated coconut, a pinch of salt, ¼ tsp black sesame seeds and ¼ tsp cumin seeds. Mix well.
STEP 4.3 rub it with your hands to break the lumps. Make sure there are no lumps.
STEP 5.4 tap over the powder to stick them together. Let it rest for 1 hr.
STEP 6.5 again mix it well with your hands and break the lumps.
STEP 7.6 heat a wide non-stick pan and add the prepared mixture. Roast it in medium flame. Stir it continuously.
STEP 8.7 turn off the flame when the mixture becomes crispy and golden in colour.
STEP 9.8 avalose podi is ready to be served with sugar and/or banana.
