Ayala Varuthathu (Fried Mackerel) Recipe

Cooking Directions

• STEP 1.Clean and wash the mackerel thoroughly. Make diagonal cuts on both sides of the fish.
• STEP 2.In a bowl, mix together turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt to form a thick paste.
• STEP 3.Apply the spice paste all over the fish, making sure to coat it well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
• STEP 4.Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated fish in the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
• STEP 5.Remove the fried fish from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
• STEP 6.Serve hot as an appetizer or as a side dish with rice and curry.
