World Whisky Day 2022: Exclusive Cocktail Recipes To Kickstart Your Weekend

Who doesn’t appreciate a good, smooth glass of whisky in this world? Anyone who loves to clink a glass or two on some days would know how the beauty of this spirit lies in the patience with which it is created, and thus it deserves the appreciation it gets world over. Often termed as a gentleman’s drink, whisky is known to be one of the most popular drinks across bars. Perhaps, the reason it has a day dedicated to it - ‘World Whisky Day’ is celebrated every year on the third Saturday of May, and this year it falls on May 21. 

To commemorate the day, whisky lovers around the globe celebrate it with tastings, events and gatherings. So, whether you like it on the rocks or with soda or water, gather your whisky gang and get started. And what better time to do that than the weekend? If you are someone who hasn’t yet acquired the taste of whisky, we don’t blame you, but can definitely help you get the hang of it through some amazing cocktails.  

Whisky is a versatile spirit that can be made into some interesting cocktails. This World Whisky Day, we’ve got you a unique experience of innovation and experimentation with some one-of-a-kind cocktails by Angad Singh Gandhi, Brand Ambassador, Glenfiddich India. 

These unique sensorial serves have been curated as a part of Glenfiddich’s latest ‘Glenfiddich Experiments with Tea’ campaign for both whisky enthusiasts and novices to cherish. With both ‘International Tea Day’ and ‘World Whisky Day’ being celebrated on the same day, we don’t think there could be a better way to bring both the beverages together! India is a tea-drinking nation and the second-largest producer of tea, complementing the same is Glenfiddich ‘Our Original Twelve’. The recipes are sure to serve a distinguished experience for both single malt lovers as well as with India’s tea lovers!

1. Threefold Fashion

Ingredients: 

• 60ml 12-year-old Glenfiddich 

• Firdaus - Anandini Himalayan Tea 

• Sugar 

• Aromatic bitters 

• Cinnamon stick 

• Applewood smoke (use a smoke gun or smoke top) 

Method: 

1. Infuse the tea to 60ml whisky.  

2. Fill the mixing jar with lots of ice and pour the infused whisky in.  

3. Add 10ml of tea-sugar cordial (boil 1:1 ratio of tea and sugar with water) and a few dashes of aromatic bitters.  

4. Add applewood/hazelwood smoke while continuously stirring the drink for 25-30 seconds.  

5. Finally, strain it over a big cube of ice in an old-fashioned glass and garnish with a small cinnamon stick.

2. Paradisiacal Highball 

Ingredients:

• 60ml 12-year-old Glenfiddich 

• Firdaus - Anandini Himalayan Tea 

• Lime juice 

• Club soda 

• Dehydrated fruit - apple/pear 

Method: 

1. Add infused tea to 60ml Glenfiddich in a highball glass over a big cube of ice.  

2. Add a few drops of lime juice.  

3. Serve with club soda and garnish with your preferred dehydrated fruit.
