Breakfast is considered the most crucial meal of the day as it is the first meal that kickstarts our day, so it is crucial to consume a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Skipping breakfast or keeping your stomach empty from dinner until lunchtime can lead to digestive issues such as acidity, gas, loss of energy, and lack of concentration at work.

To avoid such issues, it is essential to refuel the body after a long gap throughout the night, making breakfast an important meal that should not be skipped. It is also crucial to pay attention to what you consume for breakfast, as eating unhealthy items like cheesy toast or deep-fried samosas and kachoris can make you feel more lethargic. Eating healthy Indian food items such as these can help you maintain energy and function well throughout the day. Therefore, here is a list of healthy Indian breakfast options that you can enjoy:

1.  Ragi Upma 

Upma is a light and easy-to-make South Indian breakfast dish that is usually made with rava or suji, aka semolina. In this case, ragi replaces rava and is roasted in a pan. Then, vegetables like chopped carrots, peas, bell peppers, onions, etc. can be added to it. Made with chana and urad dal, the upma is flavoured with mustard seeds.

2. Beetroot Dosa  

Dosa is a desi-style crepe that is usually made with rice flour or rava. The dosa can be plain or stuffed with a filling. While this one is a plain dosa, it comes with a lot of flavour. Beetroot, grated carrots, and rava go into the making of its batter. The dosa is cooked on a tawa and tossed on both sides. It is then served with coconut chutney.

3. Vegetable Dalia  

Dalia is a thick porridge that is generally made from broken wheat. Here, you can give the sweet breakfast dish a savoury touch by adding a host of vegetables to it. 4. Green Gram Sprout Salad

Sprouts are one of the healthiest breakfast and snack choices one can make. All you need to do is take green moong dal and soak it in water. Drain the water and wrap it in a muslin cloth. Tie it tightly and hang it in a corner for a few days. Then, you’ll notice the sprouts coming up, and you can use this to make a yummy salad with the addition of tomatoes, onions, green chillies, lime juice, salt, and red chilli powder.

5. Poha  

The beaten rice dish is a popular breakfast item in states like Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Made in a variety of ways in different parts of the country, poha is filled with vegetables like green peas, onions, carrots, and potatoes, as well as sweet corn.
