*Some restaurants listed in this trail serve non-vegetarian food, but have been added because they have good vegetarian options on their menu as well.

  • Hub at ECR

An Indian, American, and fusion menu is available at this nice restaurant with a good ambiance. This restaurant has plenty of room for large parties and a lively atmosphere, especially on the weekends. The atmosphere is relaxed, with low lighting and soothing tunes playing all day. It has a bar attached to it, and it's all lit up with lanterns against brick walls and trippy art on the walls. Indulgent kebabs, pasta, and burgers are on the menu, as are a few small plates inspired by North and South India. Their fish dishes are also excellent. Take it down with a cold beer.
  • ECR Dhaba

What good is a trip in the car if there are no interesting sights along the way? The lush gardens and buttery dishes at ECR Dhaba are a feast for the eyes and the palate. You can choose between sitting inside or outside. Those who prefer to sit outside in the fresh air will appreciate the shade provided by the thatched roof. There is a kid-friendly section for the little ones to play in. North Indian, South Indian, and, of course, the best of the bunch, seafood dishes, are available there. If discretion is required, order a few butter naans and stuff your face with butter chicken.
  • Kai From The Sea

Some of ECR's newest hotspots feature a unique fusion of retail and dining options. The ocean is referred to as "Kai" in Japanese. Kai combines a fish market with a grab-and-go menu and a cozy fine dining area to create a one-of-a-kind experience for seafood lovers. Kai prioritizes the day's fresh catch and seasonal (and thus sustainable) menu items.
  • Kipling Cafe

Splendid Asian-European fusion eatery with a roof garden and a view of the water. Kipling Cafe, a perfect date spot for romantic couples, has the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing hangout with a breezy outdoor area. White cabanas with candles light up the space in the evenings, and a bar is connected to the establishment. They have both an outdoor patio with a view of the beach and an indoor area for patrons to wait out bad weather. Thai, European, Mediterranean, and Punjabi dishes can all be found on the menu, and they pair nicely with the excellent drinks they serve.
  • Hibiscus Cafe

Cafe with a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere and a menu that spans the cuisines of Europe and Asia. This restaurant is both cosy and elegant, and it also features a sizable retail section stocked with organic foodstuffs. There is a wide selection of tasty Thai dishes available. The atmosphere here is perfect for a Sunday brunch get-together with the gang. There's no way you can pass up the chicken wings.
  • The Wharf 2.0

This restaurant in a high-end hotel that serves seafood, pasta, and grilled meat and is an excellent place to unwind, especially during the workweek. The service is great, the food is adequate, and the beach is a great place to bring the kids. One of the first and best luxury beachfront venues along the East Coast Road, with unobstructed views of the famous Mamallapuram shore temple. Views are best just before sundown. High chairs near the open kitchen are popular with seafood fans. The tables right on the sand, where you can almost feel the waves, come highly recommended as well.
  • Melting Pot: Market Cafe

The Melting Pot Market Cafe can be found in the heart of Mahabalipuram, inside the Intercontinental Chennai Resort. There's a choice between sitting inside or outside, so you can enjoy the breeze from the ocean while you dine by the pool. The salad choices are a nice change of pace, and the sushi bar has a lot of tasty options.
  • L'attitude 49

An Indian and international restaurant with stunning white decor, ocean views, and open lawns. Everything, including the furniture and tableware, is decorated in pristine ivory and sparkles with cleanliness. The staff members are a joy to interact with. You can choose between the buffet and à la carte. Although the prices are on the higher end of the spectrum, the menu selection is outstanding.
