The ongoing holy month of Ramadan is said to be one of the most pious months of the Islamic calendar. It is said that it was in this month, that the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad. Men and women observe fasts called roza, and only eat after the sun sets. They also refrain from drinking water through the day. The month of Ramadan is also associated with charity and community eating. In the evening after reading their prayers, people break their fast and eat together. The feast can comprise of anything from kebabs to phirni to biryani. Actress Soha Ali Khan has quite a delicious spread over at her house on Wednesday. She took to Instagram to share a story of the same. The spread comprised of many middle-eastern delights such as the middle-eastern potato salad or batata harra, dates, buns, hummus, tabouleh, kebab kaboudeh, served with rice and chargrilled peppers and some other snacks. The sumptuous feast was sent over to her place by @zimagourmet. And in the story Soha also used the gif ‘Ramadan Mubarak’. Later in the day, Soha also enjoyed an ice cream cake, now that was quite a feast wasn’t it.

Here are some more dishes you can include in your festivities.

Dal Kabab

If you are planning to go meatless, you would love these soft and yummy kebabs made out of lentil paste and a bevy of hot spices. Dal kababs are best paired with pudina chutney or any chilli sauce.

Seekh Kabab

You can never go wrong with classics, can you? Seekh kababs are perhaps one of the oldest kind of kebabs out there. They are made using minced meat. The meat can be anything from chicken to lamb. Minced meat is wrapped around iron skewers and grilled till perfection.

Mutton tikka biryani

You saw this coming, didn’t you? Smoky mutton tikkas cooked with fragrant rice. This flavourful biryani is every mutton lover’s dream come true. Serve it with salan or raita for a wholesome meal experience.

Mango Phirni

Phirni is a milk and rice pudding that looks a lot like kheer, but it uses broken rice, and is of much thicker consistency. This season-special phirni of course, comes with the goodness of fresh mango chunks. This phirni is best served chilled. We are sure it is going to strike a chord with everyone in the dining room.

Shahi Tukda

Another dessert that is a crowd-favourite. Shahi Tukda literally translates to ‘a royal bite’, and can there be a more perfect name for a dessert that spells indulgence with each bite. This dessert is made with slices of bread deep-fried in ghee, slathered over with a portion of thick rabdi and nuts.
