A dessert of sweetened toasted pieces of bread topped with cardamom flavoured reduced sweet milk (rabri). A dish originating from the northern part of the Indian Sub-continent. Tis easy to make and quick recipe can be prepared in no time and is the perfect dessrt for last minute party.

Ingredients for Shahi Tukda Recipe

  • As required Ingredients for rabri
  • 2 liter Milk
  • 1.50 cup Sugar
  • As required Saffron strands few
  • 1.50 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon Rose water
  • As required Ingredients for sugar syrup
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Rose water
  • As required Ingredients for toasted bread
  • As required Bread slices. Cut diagonally
  • As required Ghee to drizzle

Directions: Shahi Tukda Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.For the rabri, pour 2 litres milk into a sauce pan, add ¾ cup sugar and a few saffron strands and mix well.

  • STEP 1.Bring the mixture to a boil and after a few minutes, turn the heat to low and reduce till ¾th the quantity.

step 3

  • STEP 1.To this add 1 tsp cardamom powder , 1 tsp rose water. Mix well and keep aside.

  • STEP 1.Pour 1 cup of water into the saucepan, add ¾ cup sugar and stir until the sugar melts.

  • STEP 1.Allow it to boil for about 2 minutes, add ½ tsp cardamom powder and 1 tbsp rose water and turn off the heat.

  • STEP 1.For the toasted bread,on a preheated pan add diagonally cut bread slices with trimmed edges .

step 7

  • STEP 1.Drizzle ghee on top. Flip and drizzle ghee on the other side as well. Toast on the pan until crisp and golden brown.keep aside.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Dip toasted bread in sugar syrup for 10 seconds.
