4 Distinct Salads You Must Try In Winters

Do you consider salads boring and plain? Well, I don't; however, I include them in my diet for good health. Trust me, salads are not always dull; according to your taste, you can prepare them in any way. If you want, you can make them healthy and tasty by adding many great spices to olives. Not only this, but you can also introduce a new variety to your salads by using different vegetables every time. You may find salads boring, but the following recipes will change your perception as you can include all the green leafy vegetables (available in winter) in them. So let's dig into these winter salad recipes.

Fenugreek Salad

Eating fenugreek salad in the winter season has numerous health benefits. To make its dressing:

  1. Add half a cup of oil, two tablespoons mustard paste, 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder, 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon dried pomegranate seeds in half a cup of vinegar. 
  2. Now add salt to it and mix it well. Now chop two tomatoes and add fenugreek leaves to them. 
  3. Now in a non-stick pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add 7-8 garlic cloves, saute till the garlic becomes evenly golden and crisp. 
  4. Next, add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 8-10 walnuts and let the mustard seeds crackle—Transfer fenugreek salad to a serving plate. 

Now, pour the tempering over the salad.

Pear, Apple and Walnut Salad

This is a delicious and healthy salad, which makes you feel full for a long time. To make this salad:

  1. Whisk together 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 2.5 tablespoons orange juice and 1/2 cup raisins in a large bowl.
  2. Add chopped apples, pears and walnuts to it.
  3. Add olive oil and toss it.

Finally, you improve its taste even more by adding salt and pepper.

Spinach and Vegetable Salad

You must have eaten spinach in many forms in winter. But now, let's try eating it as a salad. To make this salad recipe:

  1. Add cherry tomatoes, cucumber, onion, red capsicum and paneer to fresh chopped spinach in a bowl and mix. 
  2. Now pour 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon olive oil over it. 
  3. Lastly, mix salt and pepper according to taste and serve.

Moong Dal and Carrot Salad

This salad is a high protein salad. If you want to increase the protein intake in your diet or are on a weight loss program, this salad will help you in the winters. For this:

  1. Mix one-fourth cup boiled moong dal, one-fourth cup cooked chickpeas, grated carrot and two spoons of olive oil in a bowl. 
  2. Now add salt, pepper, honey, lemon and mix it well before tasting it.
