The 98th Academy Awards 2026 took place on 16 March between 4:30 AM and 7:30 AM (IST). Michael B. Jordan for Sinners and Jessie Buckley for Hamnet took home the top acting honours, while One Battle After Another finished the evening with six victories. Many attendees went to the after-party, following the main event. At that point, the emphasis gradually moved from the awards to the food and beverages, which turned out to be the most talked-about aspects of the evening.
The menu for this year's Governors Ball is equally excellent. The Oscar 2026 menu was prepared by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, which included more than 70 dishes, including a huge assortment of comfort foods and a lavish dessert buffet for nearly 1500 guests!
In his 32nd year in charge of the event's catering, celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is once again in charge of the food at the Oscars. He is accompanied by a sizable kitchen crew that includes 45 pastry chefs and 75 savoury chefs who work behind the scenes to create the meals for the evening. The spread's culinary mastermind, Wolfgang Puck, painstakingly created the carefully chosen menu. He is well-known for providing the entertainment industry with highly regarded catering services.
The cuisine for the 2026 Oscars was a multi-station spread, with several counters offering a variety of international flavours that attendees could sample all night long. If you’re curious as to what was made and devoured, here is a closer look:
A Multistation Global Feast At The Oscar 2026 Afterparty
The night included 5 different kinds of wine and 7,000 glasses of champagne, accompanied by 600 pizzas and about 90 kg of steak that had been served. Freshly grilled seafood served at a Japanese izakaya station, freshly churned ice cream from an Italian gelato machine, and authentic Italian-style pizzas made in a wood-fueled pizza oven were the menu highlights.
Other culinary stations included a slider bar, a handroll bar and a steak frites slicing counter. This year's menu features 2,000 little chocolate Oscar statuettes covered in gold, 3,000 artichoke agnolotti, and 600 homemade pizzas. Two gallons of 24-carat liquid gold were used to make the chocolate Oscar spraying station. There were Wagyu steak frites, chicken pot pie, Oscar-shaped smoked salmon with caviar, and a variety of sushi. A live izakaya station serving Japanese-style pub grub was one of the highlights of the culinary festivities. There was also a sushi and salmon counter where five chefs made crispy rice cakes, nigiri, and handrolls.

Apple strudel, a special recipe created by chef Wolfgang Puck's mother, was on the dessert menu. In addition, guests were served freshly churned ice cream from an Italian gelato machine. Mixologists Charles Joyl and Lorenzo Antinori crafted Tequila Don Julio cocktails that enhanced the menu's attractiveness. Finally, there were about 2,000 tiny chocolate Oscars wrapped in gold dust.
Two gallons of 24-carat liquid gold were used at the spraying station to mimic the renowned Academy Award trophy. Attendees received about 2,000 little chocolate figurines sprinkled with gold. Wolfgang Puck stated that leftover food will be donated to Skid Row to help those in need, ensuring that no culinary labour is wasted.
