Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently riding high with her latest movie Laal Singh Chaddha, opposite Aamir Khan, getting rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Kareena has a massive fan following who were eagerly waiting to see her back on the screen, but despite being away from the screen for two years, Kareena made sure to keep in touch with her fans through social media. A regular user of Instagram, Kareena keeps sharing updates from her everyday life with her following of over 9 million, including her diet secrets and favourite foods.

In her latest post, Kareena shared her snack for her ‘crunch time’. Can you guess what it could be? No it wasn’t any fancy snack but our very own Gujaratis staple khakhra, which Kareena was munching on for her evening crunch time. Sharing a picture of it on Instagram Stories, which showed the actor holding a glass of chai along with a plate of half-eaten khakhra, Kareena wrote ‘Why are you just the best?’ tagging celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar. She then added ‘ Khakra for the win! Crunch time’ along with a heart emoji. Take a look:

The khakhra looks super yum, doesn’t it? Rujuta has been Kareena’s nutritionist for a long time now, and has even shared the actor’s diet plans with her fans. She once revealed how Kareena is a huge fan of home-cooked Indian meals, and love to gorge on sarson ka saag with desi ghee during winters. Isn’t that interesting?

Coming back to Kareena’s khakhra, it seems like it was indeed Rujuta who sent her the same. Wondering why? Khakhra is often deemed as a healthier snack as compared to your fried bits, as it is lightly roasted over an open flame to give it a distinct smoky flavor. It is made with whole wheat flour and pulse-based ingredients, primarily moth beans besides light spices, due to which khakhra is considered to manage diabetes, aid weight loss and digestion besides being gluten-free.

It is a perfect balance of taste and health, as the way in which khakhras are roasted makes them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The light spices add a delicious flavor to khakhra which enhances their taste further. No wonder Kareena is a fan! And if her crunchy binge has made you crave some khakhra, we’ve got you covered.
