Sausage Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

Recipe By The Spruce Eats

Nothing beats a freshly baked, hot biscuit on a saturday morning. Biscuits are even better when they are loaded with breakfast sausage and sharp cheddar cheese. These biscuits are insanely easy to make and can be baked in one casserole dish. They are the perfect breakfast dish to make ahead of time and serve to hungry house guests. They would also look beautiful on a brunch table. Christmas morning would be fast, easy, and delicious with a tray of these babies. Make sure to completely cook the breakfast sausage before adding it to the biscuit dough. It is also important for the breakfast sausage to be completely cooled. If it is hot when you add it to the dough, it will melt the butter in the dough and change the texture. You can add other mix-ins to these sausage cheddar biscuits like freshly chopped chives, scallions, or different cheeses like gruyere or gouda. I think the sausage tastes best with the biscuits, but you could also add bacon. You can also use these biscuits to make biscuit sandwiches by slicing them in half and adding more sausage and cheese insideYou can easily freeze this tray of biscuits after you bake and cool them and then reheat them when you need them
