Directions : Masala Idli Recipe

STEP 1.Using a knife cut the idli into 9 small and equal pieces.

STEP 2.Take a pan and add enough oil to shallow fry. Shallow fry the idli pieces in medium flame.

STEP 3.Take it out of the oil. Drain the excess oil.

STEP 4.Heat 2tbsp oil in a kadai and mustard seeds. After the mustard seeds crackle, add 1 tsp urad dal(optional). Add 2 chopped green chillies, 1tsp chopped ginger, 1tsp chopped garlic. Saute it for a while until the raw smell is no more. Add finely chopped onion and salt to taste. Saute them well.

STEP 5.Add 1/2tsp kashmiri chilli powder, 1/4tsp pepper powder, 1/4tsp garam masala. Saute it for a while until the raw smell is no more. Add 1tsp soy-sauce and 1 tsp lemon juice. Mix well

STEP 6.Add 1 ½ cup hot water. Mix well.

STEP 7.Add chopped coriander leaves and a pinch of asafoetida. Mix well.

STEP 8.Sprinkle some gingelly oil on top and add some more chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.

STEP 9.Masala idli is ready to be served.
