Slice of a meat patty between two circular pieces of bread with some veggies and you have got yourself a burger. From McDonald's till now, the burger has seen significant change, particularly in India. Without going into too much detail, burgers existed in India until the first international burger arrived in the 1980s through the QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) company Wimpy, followed by McDonald's in the late 1990s, which introduced India to the fast food burger, and the tale proceeded from there. Homegrown burger businesses are not a new concept, but in recent years, there have been so many new burger brands in India that make these burgers, and they have lived long enough to tell their story. On International Burger Day 2026, here are a few burger joints across Indian cities that you should at least try once:

Jimis Burger, Mumbai

Many local restaurants are coming up with a new range of burgers and new varieties of them, and Jimis Burger is one of them. They have a great range of burgers, including the very famous ‘jawbreakers’ which literally requires a healthy jaw to bite into with its large size. These are burgers served with three grilled patties with your choice of meat and are topped with plenty of cheese, crispy bacon, a double-fried egg, and a zesty chorizo jam. Creations like these are what dreams are made of, all your fave things squished into one. Other than that, every category of burger will have one classic and one special burger. The two veggie burgers will be potato and bean-based, and honestly, if this does not get you excited, are you for real?

Burger Factory, Goa

Beaches and burgers are an uncanny combination, sure but burgers are a comfort food that fixes almost every mood. What do you do when you crave burgers in Goa? You head to this healthy burger joint in north Goa, with freshly-made patties. The first outlet started in Anjuna in 2012. It was a tiny little place with some great art on the walls and awesome hospitality. People would come here after roaming about town and stop by to munch on some yummy burgers with gigantic fries. The beef burgers were delectable and are a hallmark gourmet burger in Goa. With Cheddar, onion, tomato, bacon, feta, more cheddar, BBQ sauce, olive oil, racula mango, avocado, bacon and green chilli, this burger is heavenly and filling!  Mayank Dube, the owner and a Delhiite at heart, began his burger-making spree four years ago. He makes his own patties from scratch and has worked in and consulted for restaurants in New Zealand and India for over a decade. He believes in slow food and innovation, and that’s what brought out his love for burgers and his dream of making the best burgers in Goa!
