A Guinness World Records-certified version has pushed things to the next level, demonstrating that the passion for Italian tiramisu is not just ageless but also larger than life. On April 25 & 26, 100 Italian chefs in London reportedly established a new Guinness World Record by creating a 1445-foot (440.6-meter) tiramisu at Chelsea Town Hall. While everyone enjoys a good amount of tiramisu on their plate, any time of day or night, just to put things into perspective, this record-breaking tiramisu is 4 times the height of the Eiffel Tower, laid horizontally, or 4-5 cricket pitches, or equal to 4 football fields. So, you might wonder what went into creating the world’s longest tiramisu, right? Here’s all that you need to know about it!

How 100 Italian Chefs Broke The Record For The World’s Longest Tiramisu

The entire execution was led by Mirko Ricci, the man behind the London record attempt, who previously held the record in Italy in 2017, although another Italian team surpassed it in 2019. As per Guinness World Records, the chefs utilised 50,000 ladyfingers and 3,000 eggs to create the dessert on-site. They had planned to build a 300-metre-long tiramisu, but ended up making it 440.6 metres long. The London Tiramisu smashed Milanese Galbani's record of 273.5 meters in Milan; the record-breaking dessert was created over the weekend at Chelsea Town Hall as an homage to King Charles III.

The tiramisu had to create a continuous, unbroken structure, which they accomplished by joining separate slices into a U-shaped "cake string" that stretched over 440 meters. Judges officially verified the record on April 26, noting that it satisfied conditions such as a minimum height of 8 cm and a breadth of at least 15 cm in each section.  The crew decided to perform the attempt in the United Kingdom to show respect to the country and honour the British royal family. The completed dessert had a golden crown pattern and the inscription "Grazie, Your Majesty."

Why The World Is Stunned Looking At The Longest Tiramisu In The World

The traditional tiramisu is composed of egg yolks, mascarpone cheese, cocoa powder, and coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a minor error in layering or texturing may have jeopardised the longest tiramisu’s overall integrity. The quantity of substances utilised has also taken people by surprise. The size was not only about length, but also about preserving the original flavour of a typical Italian tiramisu over hundreds of metres.

Each layer had to be carefully distributed to ensure consistency, since the biscuits need the exact amount of coffee soak to prevent being overly wet or dry. Meanwhile, the cream had to be beaten to the proper consistency to maintain its form throughout the stretch. Aside from the record, there was a purpose behind the endeavour: portions of the tiramisu will be sold, with the revenue going to good causes, which added meaningful depth and sparked discussions not just about culinary records but also the value of teamwork.

As culinary trends continue to dominate social media, this record-breaking tiramisu stands out by combining spectacle and artistry. It is not simply how long it was, but also how meticulously it was constructed. For the time being, the London tiramisu reigns supreme, and given the effort needed, beating it may require something truly spectacular.
