Rasam Tales: The South Indian Favourite, Variations & More
In South Indian cuisine, one dish that stands out for its distinctive flavour and versatility is rasam. It is often hailed as the “king of South Indian soups,” which is rightly so. If you don’t have rasam after sambar rice you will have that “something is missing” feeling, making it mandatory. And if there is a non-vegetarian dish at home, again it calls for rasam to finish the meal properly. If you go to any South Indian wedding, the first course on the banana leaf is usually steamed rice with sambar and you will be exposed to a plethora of dishes that can be considered as sidekicks.
