Burgers are one of the most popular fast foods across the world. The juicy, wholesome patties tucked between toasted buns, along with a mélange of sauces, makes for an irresistible treat. Besides everything, burgers are ones that are easy to make and thus are available on the street and at cafés, food chains, and at almost every second restaurant. Plus, we can also have it on the go. Burgers are available in a lot of varieties - from a wholesome vegetarian one to a succulent chicken or mutton one. However, have you ever thought of a burger tasting like human flesh? Sounds bizarre, right? Well, believe it or not, it is a reality thanks to a Swedish burger company, which actually sells a vegan burger that tastes like ‘human meat’. Yes, you read that right.

As weird as this may sound, a Swedish company’s mock vegan ‘human meat’ burgers have even received an award for the same. This company, known as Oumph, has now been awarded a prize for its unique innovation. It was recognised last week at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity with a Silver Brand Experience and Activation Lion. The Swedish company took to Instagram to share the news of the win and wrote, “It’s a silver! The Human Meat Plant-Based Burger was just awarded a Silver Lion in @cannes_lions, and we are beyond happy.” Take a look:

In a press release issued by the company, they revealed that their ‘unique vegetarian burger that tastes like human meat’ was first sampled at a Halloween event last year where they had invited several customers. Wondering what all went into the burger that tastes like human flesh? Well, the majority of the ingredients in the burger are soy, mushrooms, and wheat protein. Then, there are plant-based lipids and a secret spice blend to take the flavour a notch higher. When the burger was introduced last year during Halloween, it received quite a mixed bag of reactions. While some thought it was a unique mock meat idea, others opposed it straight up. You can check out some of the reactions below:

“This is too weird.”

“Not funny at all.”

“Human meat? Or is it indeed plant-based made from vegans?”

“You guys are so scary. Imagine a burger made out of an actual human being.”

“It is creepy. But I want to try it.”
