Babies are delicate and sensitive regarding their food habits. A lot of planning goes into the diet of toddlers. The newborn babies are introduced to liquid food, especially their mother’s milk. For the first 5–6 months, they survive by feeding on their mother’s milk, which is loaded with nutrients.

However, after 6 months of age, they are slowly introduced to solid foods. Although they can’t eat rice, roti, and sabzi like us, foods that can be easily digested are introduced to the babies. To make them digestible, solid foods are often pureed and given to toddlers. If you’re a parent of a toddler and don’t know what exactly to introduce to your 6-7-month-old child, we are here to help you.

We have compiled a list of foods that are easily digestible and can be given to toddlers. Take a look:

  • Moong Dal Khichdi

This is one of the healthy foods that can be given to babies. This dish is loaded with fibre, protein, carbs, and nutrients like zinc, potassium, iron, and magnesium. This khichdi can be made by boiling dal and rice together for 1 whistle, along with a pinch of salt and turmeric. Once done, grind them together and transfer them to the bowl. Add some desi ghee for flavour. Moong dal khichdi promotes the child's rapid development.

  • Apple Puree

It is rich in dietary fibre and is the least allergenic. They are considered one of the most popular foods for babies, as they are easily digestible, sweet, and unlikely to cause allergies. A small amount of apple puree can be given to the baby regularly. For this, peel an apple, remove the seeds, and pressure cook for 1 whistle. Blend the boiled apple and feed it to the child.

  • Oatmeal Puree

Oatmeal contains a high amount of fibre, magnesium, iron, and zinc. It helps in the overall development of the baby as well as improves the child’s digestion. This meal is extremely delicious and healthy as well. All you need to do is grind the oatmeal and cook it with milk. You can also add bananas or other fruits to it.

  • Broccoli Puree

Broccoli puree is nutrient-rich and is filled with fibre, iron, calcium, antioxidants, folate, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and K. Consuming broccoli puree makes the baby super healthy. To make this, cut the broccoli into small pieces and steam it well with a pinch of salt. It can also be pressure cooked for 1 whistle. Once done, blend the broccoli florets and add them to the baby’s regular diet.

  • Dal Water

We know that dal is nutritious for health. Moreover, dal water is filled with fibre, vitamins A, B9, potassium, and magnesium, which help in the growth of the baby. For this, you need to take moong dal or any other nutrient-rich lentil, boil the dal well, or pressure cook the dal for 1-2 whistles. When the dal gets completely dissolved in water, you can feed it to the baby.
