One of the most loved hors d’oeuvre that everyone swears by is - the chicken popsicle. Chicken is the go-to pick for non-vegetarians in India, many of whom prefer it over red meats. Chicken also has numerous health benefits. This white meat is one of the best sources of proteins and is full of vitamins and minerals. There are many ways in which you can serve a chicken appetiser. For the uninitiated, chicken lollipop is basically a frenched chicken winglet, in which the meat is cut loose from the bone end and pushed down creating a lollipop appearance. On the other hand, the Chicken popsicle is made by minced chicken meat which is marinated and shaped in the form of a tikki. It is fried and is usually relished along with hot Szechuan sauce. The chicken popsicle is a  popular snack, that has been experimented with a lot, and there are multiple recipes that you can choose from, while making this dish. A common method in all the various recipes of this dish involves using minced meat from the chicken breast. The breast segment has no bones, and the flesh on the segments is ample and easier to mince. The minced chicken is usually coated in a spicy red batter whose ingredients may vary. However, some of the common batter ingredient for this appetiser include red chili powder, and turmeric. The coated chicken is then marinated for a couple of hours. The marinated chicken is usually deep fried in oil. For those who want to take a healthy route, the chicken can be air-fried or baked.

Ingredients:

-Chicken minced - 250g

-Bread crumbs - 1/4th cup

-Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp

-Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

-Black pepper - 1/4th tsp

-Salt as per taste

-Soya sauce - 1/2 tsp

-Tomato sauce - 1 tsp

-Egg

-Milk - 1 tsp

-Oil to shallow fry

-Bread crumbs to coat

-Few popsicle sticks

Method: 

1) Combine the minced chicken, bread crumbs, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, black pepper, salt, soya sauce and tomato sauce together and mix well. 

2) Crack open the egg and add some milk and salt and whisk well. 

3) Now, form a ball out of the minced chicken mixture and flatten it in between your hands like a tikki. Give it an elongated shape and insert a popsicle stick to its centre. 

4) Dip the chicken popsicle in the egg mixture and coat it with bread crumbs. 

5) Fry the chicken popsicle and keep turning both the sides one by one to fry properly. Once done cooking, relish with a dash of sauce and enjoy.
