Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 5, marking the birth anniversary of former President of India Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. For many schools and educational institutions, the day means a bit more beyond just the everyday routines. Students set up game corners, special performances and even a fete or food stalls, selling homemade snacks and beverages at minimal cost.

For students who want to set up a food stall for Teachers' Day 2026, it should be kept in mind that the dish should not be elaborate. The better choice here is to go for something easy to make, carry and also quick to serve. Food that can be filled in cups, cones or small paper wraps will mean less mess and less juggling with the cutlery, and also less expense.

Another thing to be mindful of is that the food selection should be such that it stays reasonably good during the duration of the fete and should be easy enough for children to serve and hand over all by themselves. A good stall food should also leave some space between its making cost and selling price, so that you can actually make a little money. Here are five easy food options that you can consider for selling at the school fete for Teachers' Day 2026 and get all the praise from your beloved mentors:

Bhel Puri Cups

Bhel puri is a wise fete food option as most of the ingredients can be made at home and then carried separately to the school. Puffed rice, sev, chopped onion, tomato, coriander and spices can all be mixed in small batches just before you have to serve, so that the bhel remains crunchy. Portion it into paper cups or plates and hand over a spoon, making it easy to eat.

The ingredients are affordable, and a little goes a very long way. Keep chutneys in the squeeze bottles or small boxes rather than mixing them in advance, as they can make the bhel soggy. Also, a well-prepared bhel never feels repetitive, and people do not get bored with eating it.

Masala Popcorn

Popcorn is affordable, easy to make in a big batch and surprisingly very suitable for a school fair stall. Toss some freshly popped corn in a simple mix of salt, chilli powder and a little salted butter to give it a flavourful seasoning, then divide and serve into small paper cones. You do not need plates or elaborate serving arrangements, and also you can make them ahead of time.

For a fun fete, you can make two flavours, like classic salted and masala, for which you can use peri peri masala. Make sure the popcorn has cooled down thoroughly before packing so that the steam does not make it soft and soggy.

Suggested selling price: Rs 10–15 per serving

Chocolate Biscuit Balls

Don't get intimidated by the name, as this no-bake treat requires only a handful of basic ingredients like crushed biscuits, cocoa and condensed milk or full-fat milk to make. Mix everything, then shape into small balls and chill until they firm up. You can put each piece in a small paper liner, making it a neat option to pick up and eat.

Chocolate biscuit balls also look more impressive than their affordable ingredients. Keep the balls small-bite-sized so one batch can give a bunch of portions. In case the weather feels warm and humid, and you think that they can melt, carry them in an insulated box and avoid toppings that can melt easily.

Lemonade Cups

Lemonade or nimbu shikanji can work perfectly as a refreshing drink, particularly when many stalls are competing to grab attention. Lemonade is very easy to make in a large batch and needs everyday pantry staples such as lemon juice, sugar, water and a little pinch of regular and black salt. Make it at home and carry the prepared drink in a clean, insulated dispenser or large covered box, and then serve it in small disposable cups.

Keep lemon slices and mint as optional garnishes rather than adding a bunch to the container. The drink is quick to pour and feels particularly refreshing after having a round of tasting many appetising snacks.

Suggested selling price: Rs 10–15 per cup

Mini Sandwiches

Mini sandwiches are easy to portion and can be prepared more interestingly without making them costly. Use everyday white bread and fill it with simple fillings such as cucumber, tomato, cheese or homemade potato masala, then cut each sandwich into small triangles or squares.

Wrap each portion in food-safe paper and place them in small trays so that they can be easily picked up and enjoyed quickly. Avoid using too many runny sauces and watery fillings, as they can make the bread soggy. Making them shortly before the fair and keeping them covered will help maintain their texture while also making the stall easier to manage.
