Oats porridge made with the richness and creaminess of milk, flavoured with sweet jaggery is a great breakfast option, especially for fitness and proper functioning of the human body. Its runny, thick consistency is extremely fulfilling and satisfying. The preparation of this porridge takes comparatively less time than any other breakfast option. All the above benefits make it a regular breakfast option for people who are working and have to rush to their work early in the morning.

Oats can be used in a variety of ways in food, but they are most frequently processed into fine oat flour or rolled or crushed into oatmeal. Although oatmeal is most commonly consumed as porridge, it can also be used to make a number of baked foods, including oatcakes, biscuits, and bread. Numerous cold bowls of cereal, in particular muesli and granola, have oats as a component. Additionally, oats are used to make milk alternatives (‘oat milk’). One of the world's healthiest grains is oats. They include significant amounts of essential vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants, and are gluten-free whole grains.

Here’s the recipe for Oats Porridge With Jaggery And Milk.

Ingredients: 

  • 100 gms steel-cut oats 
  • 1 tbsp ghee 
  • 2 pieces green cardamom
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups milk
  • Jaggery, to taste

Method

  1. Roast the oats. Start by heating ghee in a pan. 
  2. Add the steel-cut oats to it and gently roast for just a few minutes.
  3. Crush the green cardamom, and add it to the oats while they are being roasted.
  4. Pressure-cook the oats.
  5. Add the roasted oats to a pressure cooker and add 2 cups of water to it.
  6. Cook on a medium flame for 20 minutes.
  7. Add milk and jaggery.
  8. Open the lid of the cooker and place it on medium heat.
  9. Add 2 cups of milk, mix well and let it come to a boil.
  10. Now, add powdered jaggery as per your taste and give a nice mix.
  11. Cook for 1-2 minutes more and turn off the flame.

It’s ready to be served. Pour the porridge into a bowl, garnish with chopped banana slices and serve.
