Kishwer Chowdhury Shares BTS Footage From Gala Dinner In Mumbai

Masterchef Australia 2021 finalist, Kishwer Chowdhury, who was in Mumbai a couple of months ago to curate a lavish spread for Invest and Trade Western Australia, at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, shared some behind the scenes footage of the diplomatic dinner. Chowdhury, who famously put Panta Bhaat on the global map, was lauded for her efforts on the show, to highlight the beauty of Bengali cuisine – decided to showcase western Australian produce with a desi twist, for the event.

The event that took place to also commemorate Western Australia Day on June 3, showcased a host of fusion dishes like avocado pani puri, lamb rezala with ulta tawa paratha, aamras panna cotta, Aussie pavlova with Dusheri chilli mango and death by chocolate gundi paan entrement. The footage shared by Chowdhury, shows a full day’s worth of work, where she is seen interacting with the kitchen staff at the hotel, taking a bite from a tray of black barley and smiling staff members putting finishing touches to puff pastries and macaroons.

The video also has Chowdhury’s voiceover, where she takes her viewers through the motions of executing the grand event. She says, “Something that I really like is entering these awesome spaces overseas with the best of Western Australian ingredients, and coming up with these incredible menus.” She also captioned the video saying, “Join me behind the scenes at @tajmahalmumbai as I create a gala dinner for the WA Investment and Trade Commission in India!”

The event, that took place in June 2023, had Kishwer in awe of the historic symbolism of the hotel. She gushed about her experience of cooking at the iconic hotel in a previous post where she said, “I had literal chills when I was told that the ballroom where I had conducted my event the night before, was next door to where Lord Mountbatten delivered his penultimate speech as the last Viceroy of India, before leaving forever.”
