  1. Do Not Mix With Fruit: Maybe, very few people store potatoes and onions together with any fruit. But if you are doing that, please avoid it because fruits contain ethylene (chemical), causing potatoes and onions to sprout. It would also help if you never stored potatoes and onions after cleaning them with water because even moisture causes sprouting.

  3. Do Not Store In A Hot Place: Storing or keeping potatoes and onions in a warm place can aggravate sprouting. Gradually in such a situation, you should store potatoes and onions in a cool or airy place where there is no excessive heat, and that place should always be cool.
  4. Use Cotton Cloth: If potatoes and onions are kept in a plastic bag, they start sprouting. Thus, you should avoid storing such things and instead use a cotton cloth. Do you know why? Because potatoes and onions do not germinate if kept in cotton cloth.
  5. Don’t Store In The Fridge: Many people keep potatoes in the refrigerator for preservation, but they sprout afterwards. This is because potatoes contain starch, which turns into sugar when kept in the fridge and starts sprouting.
