The difference between an OTG oven and a microwave oven

If you want to know which of these two you should choose, you should also know about the difference between these two. Both of these work in different ways.

  1. If you've to cook a large amount of food, it is good to use an OTG oven because its capacity is much higher than that of a microwave oven. On the other hand, the rotating surface of the microwave is also small, due to which you may have trouble keeping large dishes in the microwave.
  2. OTG ovens are best for baking, toasting and grilling. On the other hand, microwave ovens are used apart from reheating and defrosting food because OTG is used to reheat food. And there is no option to defrost.
  3. You can use the microwave as an OTG oven, as the microwave has the option of grilling and baking. However, whereas OTG ovens do not have the option of reheating and defrosting, hence cannot be used in place of microwaves.
  4. Similarly, when it comes to preheating, the timing of both is different. While the OTG oven needs to be preheated for at least 15-20 minutes, the preheating time of the microwave oven is just 5 minutes.
  5. In the OTG oven, the food is cooked with the help of electric coils, whereas in the microwave oven, electromagnetic waves are used to cook the food.
