Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan tied the knot with Dr Gurpreet Kaur on July 7 (Thursday) in an initimate ceremony. The wedding took place at his Chandigarh home and was attended by very close family and friends. After the wedding, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and his new bride joined the guests including AAP leaders Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Raghav Chaddha for a lip-smacking lunch. According to an ANI report, the elaborate menu comprised a range of dishes including various kinds of curries, breads, biryani and even Lasagna. An exquisite selection of salads and desserts also made the menu.
That’s right, there was a whole section of European dishes like the Lasagna Siciliano. Lasagna is an Italian pasta dish, made with several sheets of flour that are layered together with meat, veggies, cheese and sauce. As many as six types of salads were part of the wedding lunch buffet. Steak and various types of pasta were also included in the celebratory fare.
That said, the menu also included choicest Indian delicacies like Karahi Paneer, Vegetable Jhalfrezi, Chana Masala, Tandoori Kulche, Dal Makhani, and Navratan Biryani, among others. The range of drool-worthy desserts was also pretty impressive the reports suggest, from Moong Dal Ka Halwa, Shahi Tukda, Angoori Rasmalai, Dry Fruit Rabri, Maah Di Jalebi to Gulab Jamun, the Maans ensured that their guests have a fitting finale to the feast.
This is Mann’s second wedding and Kaur’s first. The chief minister’s family, including his mother and sister, and Kejriwal and his family, were among the attendees. Upon arriving in Mohali, Kejriwal said, “He is embarking on a new journey today, I wish him a happy married life.” We wonder how much of the food Kejriwal actually got to sample, but the extravagant menu did manage to create quite a stir.
