If winter vacations had goals, then Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor would be the ideal benchmark for what it must look like. Bundled up in warm clothes and basking in the winter sun at their grand Pataudi Palace this year, the couple were seen eating a meal in the garden area. On the menu was a host of delicious and seasonal foods – all of which looked fresh and mouth-watering, to say the least. In the series of photographs posted by the actress, she was seen sharing a meal of sarson da saag and makki roti topped off with a big dollop of white butter, with her husband.

Other components of this meal included a plate groaning with cubes of freshly made paneer, peeled radish sticks for snacking – two varieties with their greens intact, and a two-toned milk barfi. Captioning this delicious sequence of pictures, Kareena said, “Makki ki roti, sarson da saag from our very own ghar ka bagh. P.S. these are a few of my favourite things.” While we salivate and feel envious of her leisurely lifestyle, her casual propagation of eating local and seasonal is endearing to witness and learn from.

A big believer in eating sustainably, Kareena has always known to be an advocate for her meals being freshly home-cooked and region-specific, in the past. Backed by the nutrition philosophy of her dietician, Rujuta Diwekar, the actress has incorporated local delicacies into her diet based on where she travels to. A testament to this was Rujuta’s ‘Love! Love! Love!’ comment under the carousel of the actress’ winter feast up north, indicating that she fully approved of her dietary choices. Whether we get to experience this before the season ends or not, watching Kareena enjoy her meals surely must make her Punjabi roots happy!
