It’s common to hear eggs being beaten and poured on a pan, before a yummy omelette is placed on the breakfast table every morning. While for many, eggs are a favourite breakfast item, there are those who try to beat the temptation to eat it because they are trying to lose weight.

Well, you don’t have to skip eggs from your diet altogether. The protein-rich ingredient can be added to your breakfast in healthy ways sans calories. However, that doesn’t mean that you’d have to compromise on taste. From a boiled egg and omelette to baked eggs, there are tons of ideas that can turn your breakfast eggs into a guilt-free treat. Here are some recipes that you can try at home.

1.  Deviled Eggs

What was once a hot appetiser in ancient Rome has become a delicious breakfast treat today. The boiled eggs were hollowed out and stuffed with hot and fiery sauces that lent it the name deviled eggs. Gradually, as they moved from Rome to Spain and then other parts of Europe, the eggs became a creamy delight, filled with mayonnaise and mustard. This healthy version pairs mustard with non-fat Greek yoghurt and you can skip the mayo if you want.

2.   Scrambled Eggs With Beans

A wholesome and hearty treat for the taste buds, this egg scramble comes with the goodness of black beans. The eggs are scrambled really well and mashed to perfection. Then, baked black beans are tossed in it with some salt. Mixed together, they form a filling breakfast that can be whipped up in a few minutes.

3.     Eggs Benedict

Eggs Benedict, for the unversed, are a combination of an English bun, topped with Canadian bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. In the healthier version of the recipe, the bun is replaced by thickly-cut slices of sweet potato. Add a thin slice of bacon and top with a poached egg. For the sauce, Greek yoghurt, lemon, and butter are mixed together and poured over it.

4.   Eggs In A Mug

This is not just a healthy way to make eggs but a delicious combination too. The eggs are whipped up in a mug and topped with chopped vegetables like onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and more. Sprinkle some salt and red chilli powder, along with a few herbs of your choice. Cook it in the microwave for a minute and your eggs in a mug are ready.

5.  Baked Scotch Eggs

This meaty and delicious breakfast dish is made with boiled eggs that are coated with a meaty layer. The Scotch eggs are slathered with sausage meat and Worcestershire sauce and then dipped in bread crumbs. The eggs are then slightly fried and baked. Usually, these eggs are deep-fried, but in this recipe, they are first fried slightly and then fully baked so they are healthier.
