Cakes are an important part of a celebration. Birthdays, anniversaries, and many such celebratory occasions are often incomplete without a cake-cutting ceremony, isn’t that true? Now imagine you cut a cake, and while serving the slices to guests seems like an easy task, you actually end up complicating the slices – either they don’t come out equal or get messy. So, how do you cut the cake to make each slice seem equal, and not make it a messy affair? While there are many techniques for cutting cakes, a recent viral video has revealed a hack that simply seems to be the best. An Instagram video that shows an extremely handy cake-cutting hack, has been going viral. The hack can give you neat cake slices in a matter of seconds! Yes, you read that right.

Shared on Instagram Reels by @chile.paisdevideos, the hack in the video is unlike other hacks which require huge knives or other complicated equipment. It does not require any such thing, except just one simple equipment- a tong. Yes, the hack uses a tong, and you’ll be surprised at how easy it is. The tongs weren’t used in the correct way though. So rather than being used the usual way, the tongs were reversed in the video. Then, the open part between the two prongs was used to cut out a perfectly sized slice by pushing it all the way down to the base. The tongs were then used to pick up the slice and serve it on the plate! Take a look:

Isn’t that so simple and convenient!? No wonder the video has gone viral ever since it was shared online, garnering over 15 million views and 281k likes. "This actually works. You have to try this," read the caption to the video. The cake-cutting hack has impressed internet users who just couldn't believe how easy it was. "We can serve cake to 34 people with that portion," commented one user in Spanish while another wrote, "Well give me 3 of those at least, right?" However, some users didn't like the idea, as they said, "My aunt was outraged watching this video."

This is not the only birthday cake hack that has gone viral in the past. In 2020, when people were celebrating special occasions in the lockdown, another similar hack surfaced online which suggested using wine glasses to cut out individual portions of the cake. This would reduce contact and also be a fun way to share the cake! What do you think about it?
