Mango Fest Organized In Patna, A Unique Contest Grabs Attention

Mangoes are called ‘Aam’ but they are definitely ‘Khaas’! Summer season could be bad due to so many reasons but if there is one thing which makes it special, it is the availability of mangoes. Who doesn’t love mangoes? This juicy and delectable fruit is not just delicious but also quite versatile. Apart from eating it raw, you can have mangoes in dishes, desserts, condiments, drinks etc. And also, mangoes are packed with so many essential nutrients and vitamins too. How amazing is this! 

There could be so many ways to celebrate mangoes. Recently, a three-day long state level mango fest was organized in Patna, Bihar by the Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture. This mango fest featured around 3000 mango varieties and a huge range processed products showcased by over 600 mango cultivators and entrepreneurs from different districts. If some officials are to be believed, the main objective behind organizing this fest was to create an awareness about the different mango species cultivated across the state. Besides, necessary information regarding the storage, processing and marketing was also provided to the mango cultivators. 

What grabbed much attention was a unique mango eating contest. In a recent video shared on twitter by ‘ Akashwani Samachar, Patna’ we can clearly see some people engaged in quickly eating some mangoes as a part of the mango-eating contest. The contest took place at Bettiah area in West Champaran in Bihar and 'Aam Khaao Inaam Paao' was contest’s tagline. In the video, all the participants were using their hands to finish the juicy fruit and to win the prize, they had to finish a whole plate. Here is the video:
