Available in summer and monsoon, aam sandesh is a seasonal variant that you must try, especially if you like the flavours of mango. Vendors use ripe fruit pulp to prepare the delicacy and add natural colour and sweetness to it. The vibrant yellow hue makes it shine out among its peers in a sweet shop.

Gurer Jolbhora Sandesh

This unique variety of sandesh promises a burst of flavour in your mouth as soon as you bite it. It is prepared by filling sandesh with liquid jaggery or nolen gur. The moment you bite it, jaggery oozes out, and hence, the name ‘gurer jolbhora’.

Kesar Sandesh

Kesar sandesh is a variant of the popular Bengali sweet dish that boasts subtle flavours and colours. It has a golden hue that comes from saffron strands added to chhena or freshly curdled milk. It is also garnished with saffron and nuts.

Nolen Gurer Sandesh

Nolen gurer sandesh is a winter delight prepared with jaggery or date palm jaggery. It is known for its caramel-like flavour and distinct aroma. If you ever visit Kolkata in winter, don’t forget to try this delicious delight.

Chocolate Sandesh

For all the chocolate lovers out there, this variety of sandesh is a must-have. It incorporates the rich texture and notes of chocolate making it a popular pick among children. But like chocolate petha is an absolute try when you are in Agra, chocolate sandesh falls in the same category.
