In lieu of promoting their latest film, which is set to hit the screens on February 10, actors Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, and Nargis Fakhri joined hands to serve those who have been serving them for years. They are none other than Mumbai’s famous Dabbawalas. For the unfamiliar, the dabbawala food delivery service, which comprises a group of people who deliver home-cooked meals to office workers, is decades old and is still prominently used in the city.
Anupam took to his Instagram handle to share glimpses from their lunch with the dabbawalas. It was a series of pictures and videos where the cast of the film, Shiv Shastri Balbao, is seen wearing the traditional white hats of dabbawalas. Next up, we see them posing with these hard-working men. Finally, we get to see the dabbawalas sharing lunch with Anupam, Nargis, and all the other actors.

Anupam served dishes to these people in brass thalis while they just sat back and enjoyed the food. Then, the actors sat down to eat with them. While we couldn’t get a glimpse of the entire menu, there were definitely some Maharashtrian delights like misal pav, aloo bhaji, chopped kanda (onions), and thecha, a fiery Maharashtrian condiment.
He captioned the post, saying, "We the team of #ShivShastriBalboa today had the privilege to serve lunch to the iconic Mumbai #Dabbawalas. According to them in their existence of 133 years this is a first time they were made the guests." This made the dabbawalas' day, as they were recognized for their hard work and treated with the utmost respect for their noble profession.
