Raksha Bandhan is just around the corner, and we can already feel the festive vibe in the air. This wholesome festival marks the sacred bond between siblings, who promise to protect each other. On the day, the sister ties a sacred thread or rakhi on the wrist of her brother and prays for his long life and prosperity, while the brother vows to protest her against all odds. The ceremony involves her first applying tilak on his forehead, tying the rakhi and then both of them treat each other with a decadent sweet.

Like all desi festivals, Raksha Bandhan too is incomplete without sweets. And can there be a better way to show love to your siblings and surprise them, but a homemade mithai? And if you are also searching for an easy and yummy dessert to make at home, we have just the perfect one.

Chocolate peda is a decadent fusion sweet meat, which comes with the yumminess of chocolate and combines the traditional Indian sweet peda with it. And trust us, this sweet will impress your entire family, kids and adults alike. Better make a big batch in advance. A sweet dish hailing from the Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, peda is a thick, semi-soft ladoo like ball, and is primarily made with khoya, sugar and traditional flavourings such as cardamom seeds, pistachio nuts and saffron. This chocolate peda however gives it a rich and chocolatey spin.

How To Make Chocolate Peda

Made with just three ingredients and in 20 minutes, chocolate peda involves mixing the khoya and sugar in a pan until thick. Add cocoa powder to it then, mix it well. Let it cool to room temperature. Once it cools, then form small peda balls out of it. You can refrigerate these balls as well until the time of serving.
