There are various ways to consume the edible root vegetable, radishes, from curries and pickles to salads and pakoras. Another delicious preparation of the vegetable is Radish Juice, which has a sharp, slightly spicy taste that is flavoured with a little bit of sugar or jaggery and a pinch of black salt or sea salt. Radish Juice can be made quickly and is easy to digest, so it is a good choice for quick nourishment during a hectic day.

Radish has many health benefits. It is high in potassium and calcium, which makes it good to regulate high blood pressure and maintain good bone health. It also has antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, and is high in dietary fibre. It is said to be good for the liver and the heart as well as helps in flushing out toxins from the body. Radish Juice is also excellent for weight loss as it has a low glycemic index.

Foods that have a low glycemic index cause blood sugar levels to rise and fall slowly, which helps to make you feel full and not hungry for a long period, and is also good for those suffering from diabetes. Radish Juice also makes for a good winter juice to fight coughs and colds. It is also said to be good in giving relief from the burning sensation due to urinary tract infection. So, overall, the juice packs a punch of taste and health.

Radish Juice is easy and quick to prepare. It can be made in less than 10 minutes. To make the juice, use either pink or white radish (the vegetable also comes in red, purple, green, black, and yellow variants). If you don’t have a juicer, you can make the Radish Juice by grating the radish and then grinding it into a pulp, while adding water. The juice is then strained through a sieve to remove any solid bits.

Radish Juice can also be made with a combination of apple or citrus fruits, like oranges, for those who don’t want to add sugar and want to decrease the sharp taste of the vegetable. You can even make the juice by adding celery or carrots to add a dimension of taste and health.
