The 2024 Olympics are to be held in the dreamy land, Pairs. While the athletes are all set to perform their best for the biggest competition starting from 26th July till 11th August, France has left no stone unturned to make the Games a historical food event. With their “Food Vision,” Paird Olympics 2024 commits to serving more plant-based, sustainable, and local food than ever.

France is known for its Michelin-star restaurants, fine gastronomy, a diverse palate of flavours, and the finest dishes across the globe. Catering to 15,000 athletes, 45,000 volunteers, and 26,000 media professionals in the coming four weeks would have been a task, but Paris is set to make it possible in one of the healthiest and most historic ways possible.

It is reported that during the span of the tournaments, 13 million meals will be served, which will include breakfasts, buffets, snacks, fine diners, and so on. In Paris’s Food Vision, Etienne Thobois, Paris 2024 Chief Executive Officer, said, “Serving 13 million meals in four weeks at over 40 sites– it’s going to be the largest event catering operation in the world. For Paris 2024, it’s an immense operational challenge. For France, it’s an opportunity to showcase our expertise at every step of the chain – production, logistics, preparation, service and waste management.”

As per the reports, the athletes will spend most of their time at The Village to prepare for the competitions, recover, and celebrate. The Food Vision states, “In collaboration with Sodexo Live!, the Village’s catering services must, above all, meet the needs of athletes from 208 countries and regions 24/7, all while satisfying the nutritional requirements specific to each sport and aligning with diverse cultural practices. But the Village must also enable everyone, when not competing or training, to discover French cuisine, which many of them will not have an opportunity to try outside of the competition venues. At the other Villages, a similar offer will be available to ensure all the athletes access an equivalent level of service.”

Adding to the diverse culinary arrangements, Paris 2024 also aims to have 75% fresh ingredients and at least two vegetarian dishes every day to lower the carbon footprint. Furthermore, they vouch to optimise food waste by not using any disposables, using water fountains instead of plastic bottles, and much more.
