For any ordinary man who likes to drink tea, this is a very common phenomenon. But when a celebrity like Deepika Padukone encounters the same, it just turns into something more fascinating. Whether it’s true or not, it is said that ours is a tea-drinking nation although coffee patrons would like to think otherwise. Right from the bed tea in the morning to our sham ki chai, there’s a certain emotional connect that Indians share with tea. In fact, it isn’t just the common man who likes to indulge in a cup of hot masala tea every now and then but even famous personalities and celebrities who are very particular about how they like their tea.
Do you remember that time when television host, Mini Mathur declared someone was stealing her lemongrass for their tea? Then there’s Mira Kapoor who has been a chai and coffee enthusiast as far as we’ve seen her. Manish Malhotra too confessed his addiction to morning tea in an Instagram post this one time. And now we have Deepika Padukone join the bandwagon too. The Gehrayiaan actress who has won several accolades for her amazing acting skills and fabulous fashion sense, was caught with her cup of tea. She recently took to her Instagram to share a video of her biting into a biscuit with a cup of tea in her hand.
A quick boomerang of sorts, she exclaimed in her caption that half her biscuit fell into the tea “soon after” that boomerang. This situation was totally relatable for us and we couldn’t get over how adorable she looked in the video. Don’t know what we’re talking about? Here’s a glimpse.

While biscuits fall into the tea cup all the time, it is these snacks that won’t mess around with your cup of tea and let you enjoy both in peace.
1. Potato Cutlet
Crispy, shallow-fried and delicious, that’s what best defines potato cutlets. The round, flattened pieces of mashed potatoes are tossed in some breadcrumbs and then fried in hot oil on a pan. These are usually served with a side of tomato ketchup and coriander chutney and go well with masala chai in one hand.
2. Paneer Cheese Pakora
The goodness of two types of cheese comes packed in one in this pakora. Paneer, also known as cottage cheese, is meshed together with grated mozzarella cheese and the mixture is spruced up with spices. Finally, this is rolled in the fist like a ball and coated in some besan to be deep-fried in hot oil. Serve with tomato ketchup.
3. Sooji Toast
A colourful and filling snack that is perfect to be paired with your chai, sooji toast is meant for days when you are super hungry. The sooji aka semolina is mixed with yoghurt. Chopped vegetables like bell peppers, onions and tomatoes are added to it. All of this is combined together and the triangular slices of bread are dipped in it. It is toasted on a pan and enjoy crispy hot.
