‘Rasoi’ is a ritual where new brides cook something in their new homes for the first time.
It is officially the wedding season in tinsel town. After actress Mouni Roy, TV actress Karishma Tanna also tied the knot with boyfriend Varun Bangera in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai on February 5.
The actress met Varun about a year ago, and their wedding was attended by close friends and family. The guest list also comprised many noted members of the entertainment industry like choreographer Terrence Lewis, producer Ekta Kapoor and actor Anita Hassanandani. Karishma has kept her fans hooked with her videos and photos from her wedding functions such as mehendi, sangeet and the wedding gala where she donned a gorgeous Falguni Shane Peacock Indian number. Post the wedding, a video of Karishma’s Griha Pravesh (Hindu ceremony of welcoming the new bride) also went viral. On Monday, the actress also posted a reel of her first ‘Rasoi’, and we are drooling.
‘Rasoi’ is a ritual where new brides cook something in their new homes for the first time. If you remember, even actress Katrina Kaif flaunted her halwa, which was the first thing she cooked in her new home after marrying actor Vicky Kaushal. Kaushal further posted another picture of the dish, calling it the ‘best halwa ever’. In Karishma’s ‘Rasoi’ too, we spotted a luminous halwa, dripping with ghee and garnished with kesar and nuts. After combining the flour and milk together, she stirred in milk which she thickened in another pot with strands of kesar. The milk obtains a somewhat rabri-like consistency, when she adds it to the flour mixture. She combines everything together and then both Karishma and Varun keep a portion of halwa in their mandir and seek the divine blessings of god. At the end of the video, Varun can also be seen feeding Karishma the delish dessert that she had cooked.
Karishma’s cooking chops impressed a bevy of her famous friends too, choreographer Terrence Lewis commented “Main Baaju main rehta hoon! Kabhi kabhi yaad kar lena! (I live right beside your house, keep remembering me), while actress Diljeet Kaur got emotional and commented “Mr & Mrs”.
We know by now you have already started craving some delicious halwa too, and frankly you are not alone, we will be cooking this yummy besan Halwa tonight, how about you try this recipe too. Let us know how you liked it. Do not forget to garnish it with nuts.
