  • 1/2 cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Besan
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2.50 cup Water
  • As required Chopped almonds or roasted cashew nuts for garnish

How to Make Besan Halwa Recipe

step 1

STEP 01

Preheat a pan and add ½ cup ghee and 1 cup besan (gram flour). Stir on medium heat and mix the two ingredients together. The ghee will melt and the flour wil roast and combine with the ghee to form a thick mixture.

STEP 01

Turn the heat to low and allow to cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Keep stirring. The mixture will change colour to a darker yellow and the raw smell will disappear.

STEP 01

Put another pan on a different burner and add 2 ½ cups of water and ½ cup sugar. Turn on the heat and stir the sugar to dissolve it. Let the sugar water mixture come to a brisk boil.

STEP 01

Add a little sugar water at a time to the besan ghee mixture and stir continuously as the besan absorbs all the water and the halwa comes together. Once all the water has been added, keep stirring the halwa till it completely comes together and thickens and begins to pull away form the sides of the pan.at this stage the halwa will be ready.

STEP 01

Lastly add chopped almonds or roasted cashew nuts. Serve warm.
