New York Cheesecake: Here's How You Can Make It At Home

The credit for cheesecake goes to Arnold Reuben, owner of the legendary Turf Restaurant at 49th and Broadway in New York City, back in the 1920s. It is known to be the classic cheesecake - traditionally comprising cream cheese, heavy cream, fresh eggs, lemon, vanilla, a little sugar, and a Graham cracker crust. The recipe that we have doesn’t use lemon but goes big on cream cheese and butter. The vanilla-flavoured cream cheese filling is accompanied by a crispy base of Graham cracker, giving the perfect crackling feel to the cheesecake. This decadent dessert can be easily made at home.

Every cheesecake recipe is broken down into several parts – there is preparation of the base, the making of the filling, and finally coming together of it all. For the New York Cheesecake, first, we'll make the crunchy base. You can start by putting together the crust ingredients (Graham crackers, sugar, and butter), and let it stand.  

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, sour cream, and eggs together until you get a smooth and even texture, which is lump-free. Now, pour the mix into the prepared crust, and let it bake for about an hour. Once baked, let it rest until it cools down completely.
