Make Yummy Breakfast Dishes With Your Leftover Samosa

For the uninitiated, samosa is a deep-fried conical puff pastry stuffed with boiled and diced potatoes that are spruced up with spices. While the classic aloo samosa is the most commonly eaten one, there are several other kinds that include paneer, gobhi, matar, and pyaaz. Non-vegetarian fillings like chicken and mutton are popular too.

Let’s stick to the regular potato samosa for now. And if you have some leftover samosas from yesterday that may have become soggy, you might be hesitant to eat them as is. Don’t worry, because there are plenty of delicious ways in which you can amp up the taste of your leftover samosa, simply by crushing it and fitting it into a sandwich, a chaat, and much more.

1.  Samosa Basket

Did you know that you can make a creative deconstructed samosa with leftovers? Separate the outer pastry from the filling. Place the pastry wrapper on a basket mould. And add the potato mixture to your basket. Top it with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and a dash of green chutney. Sprinkle some sev for the crunch, and your delicious samosa basket is ready to be devoured.

2.  Samosa Sandwich

A quick and easy breakfast hack in any household is a sandwich. You just need two slices of bread and some stuffing, and you're done. In this case, the leftover samosa acts as the filling of your sandwich. Crush the samosa and flatten it. Butter your bread slices and spread some green chutney and tomato ketchup. Place the crushed samosa on one slice and cover it with the other. Lastly, toast it on a pan or grill it in a sandwich maker with butter.

3.  Samosa Paratha

Confused much? The delectable taste of this flatbread will definitely blow your mind. The paratha dough is stuffed with crushed leftover samosas. You can even remove the pastry wrapper and just add the samosa filling to the dough. Once you fill it with the mixture, wrap it up and roll it into a triangle before tossing it on a hot tawa. Serve the parathas with green chutney.

4.   Samosa Kadhi Chaat

This is a tangy and creamy chaat, slightly different from the usual. Having been popular in Rajasthan, the samosa kadhi chaat is a delectable affair. All you need to do is prepare a hearty bowl of kadhi, a yogurt-based gravy. Dip the lightly crushed samosa and plate it up with a topping of chana dal pakoras, sliced onions, chaat masala, and some green chutney.

5.   Samosa Chole

There are several pairings for your humble samosa. While chutneys are quite common, chole, a spicy chickpea gravy, is a great addition to the fried snack. The samosas are doused with a generous amount of chole and topped with sliced onions, tamarind chutney, green chutney, and chaat masala to make it a wholesome affair.
