Everyone loves to have something chocolatey every now and then. But eating chocolate on a regular basis comes with its own cons and health risks. So, what can you do to have a quick snack that is delicious and healthy at the same time? For such occasions, when you want to munch on something after a hectic day at work, come home after a rigorous workout session, or just have an evening craving, you can make dark chocolate bites.

Unlike the usual chocolate bites that are made with calorie-rich foods like crumbled cake, sugar, condensed milk, etc., you can make these dark chocolate bites with healthy ingredients. Starting with oats to give the bites a crunch or shredded coconut for a tropical flavour, you can have them as a quick snack to curb your cravings.

How To Make Dark Chocolate Balls?

Ingredients:

  1. Oats - 1 cup
  2. Almont butter - 1/2 cup
  3. Shredded coconut - 1/2 cup
  4. Honey - 1/3 cup
  5. Crushed dark chocolate - 1/4 cup
  6. Chia seeds - 1/4 cup
  7. Flaxseeds - 1/4 cup
  8. Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  9. Pinch of salt

Instructions:

1. First, prepare a base by mixing oats, almond butter, shredded coconut, honey, dark chocolate, chia seeds, flaxseeds, vanilla extract, and salt. Keep mixing till you get a sticky and uniform dough.

2. After you get a consistent dough, take out small portions and roll them into bite-sized balls.

3. Once you have made all the balls, refrigerate them for at least half an hour so that they are firm.

4. Transfer the dark chocolate bites into an air-tight container and keep the container in the refrigerator till you want to snack on them.

Points To Remember To Make Dark Chocolate Bites Healthier

Butter

Since you don’t want to munch on something with a lot of calories, you should ensure that the dark chocolate bites are healthy to snack on regularly. You should mindfully use natural butter with no added oil or sugar. You can use almond butter or peanut butter. Instead of butter, you can also use oat milk or almond milk to bind the dry ingredients without adding more calories.

Natural Sweetener

Sugars contain a lot of unsaturated fats, and they can spike blood sugar levels. To make the dark chocolate bites healthy, you should use natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey.

Crunch

To make the dark chocolate bites more indulgent, you must add some crunch to the dark chocolate bites. You can add some chopped dry fruits and nuts and different types of seeds.

Quantity

Even though dark chocolate bites are healthy snacks, you should still eat them in moderate quantities and focus on having a balanced diet.
