Kareena Kapoor Had A Healthy Weekend With Khichdi And Soup

You slog all week, only to look forward to the weekend where you can finally indulge and unwind. Looks like our stars are no different, in between their hectic schedules, when they get a chance to lay back, they try a variety of things, but rarely have we seen someone choosing tomato soup as a Saturday drink, but isn’t that why we love Kareena Kapoor Khan?  

That’s right, Kareena’s ‘drink of choice’ on Saturday was a hearty bowl of tomato soup. With the temperatures dipping, cozying up to a bowl of tomato soup seems like an excellent idea. Besides, the fortifying beverage is also replete with vitamin C and various antioxidants that boost immunity naturally. Drinking the soup hot, also keeps you warm, clearing any kind of chest and nose congestion. A home remedy to keep cold at bay.

Kareena didn’t just stop there, for her Sunday lunch too, instead of opting for a heavy, indulgent spread she went for a simple vegetarian spread of moong dal khichdi, papad, pickle and a sabzi. ‘My heart is full’, she wrote in the caption. Did you know Khichdi is often touted to be a complete source of protein. There are very few plant-based sources of protein that are deemed ‘complete’, or consist of all nine essential amino acids. Lentils are an excellent source of plant-based protein, but combining them with high-quality crabs found in rice, makes for a complete source of protein. It is wholesome, keeps you satiated and helps resist cravings. Protein also helps build muscle, leaving little room for fat to accumulate.
