Kadaknath Chicken: Tried The GI Tagged Curry From Jhabua, Yet?

The Madhya Pradesh region of India is home to the rare breed known as "Kadaknath" (black flesh chicken). The exceptional nutritional value of Kadaknath is responsible for its amazing advantages. As nutrient-dense as the chicken itself are the Kadaknath eggs. Compared to white chicken eggs, the eggs have a higher protein content (25.47%). The eggs are excellent in treating iron deficiency, migraines, asthma, kidney problems, and a speedy postpartum recovery.

In India, the Jhabua region of Madhya Pradesh is home to this desi breed of chicken, also known as Kali Masi. One of the three breeds of black chicken that are most popular worldwide is the Kadaknath chicken. The other two are Ayam and Cemani from Indonesia and Silkie from China. This kind of chicken is suitable for human consumption since it adapts well to the Indian climate and can survive in harsh weather conditions without the need of antibiotics.

The renowned Kadaknath chicken meat from Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district now carries a Geographical Indication (GI) label. A product's geographic origin is indicated on the tag, which frequently raises its market worth. A Chhattisgarh-based organisation had also requested the same recognition for the Kadaknath hens raised in the Dantewada district, but it appears that Jhabua's petition was successful.

Kadaknath Chicken, sometimes referred to as Black Chicken, is entirely black in colour, unlike conventional poultry chicken. This chicken's entire body, including its flesh, blood, nerves, feathers, and eggs, are all black in colour. But what exactly makes this chicken so well-liked by health nuts, and why do experts recommend it?

There are a number of factors that contribute to the popularity of this chicken, including its unusual colour and glossy texture, its delicious yet unique taste, and the fact that it contains about 25% more protein than conventional chicken. There are about 18 amino acids in the Kadaknath Chicken, of which eight are critically necessary for human health.

The black chicken is significantly healthier than conventional chicken, which only contains 24 percent linoleic acid, according to a report in Pure&Eco India. In addition, this Kadaknath chicken is a nutrient-dense source of protein.

It's interesting to note that the melanin in the blood of the black chicken makes it beneficial for Vitiligo patients, whose skin is irregularly coloured due to the presence of melanin. This chicken's meat is said to increase low libido and act as an aphrodisiac.

Kadaknath eggs are excellent for weight loss because they are a superb natural source of protein and minerals. Aside from that, using these black eggs to enhance immunity and treat nephritis, asthma, and severe headaches is a straightforward solution. This black chicken's flesh and eggs can be used to treat tuberculosis.
