Here Are Some Healthy Chickpea Recipes For Dinner

Chickpea or chhole are some of the most widely used ingredients in our kitchen. They can be cooked in a lot of ways and on top of that, they can be eaten with a variety of Indian staples like rice, poori, bhature, parathe etc. They are again a great source of protein and can easily be a part of your healthy weight loss diets. But the regular dishes that we tend to make with chickpeas are not all. There are a lot of other dishes that you can make with chhole which are unconventional and equally delicious. Let us look at some very healthy chickpea dishes that you can eat for dinner.

Chickpea Salad

One of the easiest recipes, chickpea salad is healthy, nutritious and very filling. It has chickpea and paneer both, that help you get a lot of protein in a single dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 50gms diced paneer
  • Salt as required
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp curd
  • 1 tsp mustard sauce

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the chickpeas, onions and tomatoes.
  • Add the paneer cubes and give it a good mix.
  • In a bowl, add salt, lemon juice, pepper, curd and mustard sauce.
  • Make a smooth mixture.
  • Add this dressing over your chickpeas.
  • Your salad is ready to eat.

Hummus and carrots

One of the healthiest, most delicious and popular dips that you can make with chickpeas is hummus. It can be stored, eaten with tortillas, pita breads, carrots and a lot of other foods. It is a popular middle-Eastern dish and is now popular worldwide. This dip and carrot combination can definitely be a part of your dinner plans on the days when you want to eat healthy but not cook. 

Chickpea Tikki

This tikki is light but filling. It can be served with some yogurt dip or dhaniya chutney, according to your preference. You can have the tikki on its own or build a healthy burger with it.

Ingredients

  • 100gm boiled chickpea
  • ½ cup rice flour
  • 1 boiled potato
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 3-4 chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp dhaniya powder
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala
  • Ghee for frying
  • Salt as required

Method 

  • Take a bowl and add boiled potato and chickpeas.
  • Mash them together properly.
  • Add the rice flour and make a very thick mixture.
  • Add the powdered masalas and mix again.
  • Finally, mix the chopped onions and green chillies.
  • Take small portions of the mixture and make balls out of them.
  • Then, press these balls lightly and flatten them into tikki shapes.
  • Now, take a shallow pan and heat ghee.
  • Leave these tikkis into the pan and shallow fry both sides till the tikkis are light brown.
  • Finally, sprinkle some chaat masala.
  • Serve with yogurt dip and enjoy.
