Gujrati & Kathiyawadi Food On The Menu For Rohit Sharma’s Team

The Sayaji Hotel in Rajkot, which has been playing host to the Indian cricket team from the 11th of February, until the 19th, have been welcomed warmly with hospitality that reflects the culture of the place. All set to play against England in a couple of days, the team has been soaking up the culture when not at practice. Tshe hotel was kind enough to organise the presidential suite for captain Rohit Sharma, from their collection of Royal Heritage rooms, as well as KL Rahul, who has also been put up in a Saurashtra-themed luxury suite.

The idea behind the emphasis of local culture also extends to the menu that has been planned for the players – who will be relishing Gujarati and Kathiyawadi dishes. Some of the items include fafda-jalebi, khakhra, thepla and khaman for breakfast, while dinner is going to be a fare of delicacies like vagharela rotlo, dahi tikari and khichdi-kadhi, amongst other things. The hotel’s management who have previously hosted the team under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, were also well-versed with the preferences of some of the players – stating that KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya enjoy eating khichdi-kadhi.
