‘When in London…go desi’, or so says actress Farah Khan Kunder in a recent Instagram post from a London cafe. No Indian can go without a good cup of masala chai and it seems this Bollywood star is no different. In the video she sarcastically starts with “So we are in London and as usual, we should do all things British. And the tea is a very important part of British culture, but we being Indian, let’s do it differently.”
She then proceeds to pull out a packet of chai premix that she brought from home, uses the cafe’s boiling water – much to the amusement of the waitress next to her – and mixes herself a cup of piping hot tea, or as she puts it, “The best masala chai in all of London!” Her antics had the comment section in splits as they laughed at her tongue-in-cheek quips about the British, while many people admitted that they do the same on their foreign excursions.
Her London food adventures have been varied and she recently shared a photo from Jamavar, a Michelin-starred fine-dining spot in Mayfair known for its luxurious pan-Indian cuisine. Here she was joined by actor Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekha Paul. In a photo posted by Chef Surender Mohan he says, “It's always a pleasure to welcome the humble @rajkummar_rao and @patralekhaa during every visit. It was lovely meeting you @farahkhankunder Ma'm. I'm so glad that you enjoyed and were so happy with the food @jamavarlondon. Looking forward to welcome you soon again.”
She also visited St James Court, a Taj property hotel where she posed for a picture alongside Chef Sujoy Gupta calling him “the man responsible for the best food”. It seems like the actress is making her rounds of London’s top Indian establishments and taking in the taste of a home away from home on her journey.
The actress is known and loved for her sharp wit and unquenchable humour and in the past has used social media to share a number of pranks, and comedic bits so it seems like she has more than enough personality to share with London too!
